Introduction to participating CDTs

CP3 (Host)

https://particulates.leeds.ac.uk/

Based in the School of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Leeds, the Centre for Doctoral Training in Complex Particulate Products and Processes (CP3) is the UK’s largest and most prolific complex particulates research centre. Particulates (particles or droplets) form part of every substance the UK manufactures, our work touches almost every aspect of modern life. Ranging from healthcare and pharmaceuticals to agrochemicals and paint products, it is our remit to make lives safer, healthier, more sustainable and more efficient. Here at Leeds CP3, we are excited to be training the world’s next generation of particle scientists and engineers and driving forward this £200bn industry.

SOFI

This CDT combines expertise from three universities, industry and central facilities to deliver a comprehensive training programme and a wide choice of research projects from across the full range of science. It will provide industrially integrated post-graduate training in research, enterprise and innovation for future industrial leaders in Soft Matter and Functional Interfaces (SOFI).

Formulation Engineering

This CDT has industry partners from the whole range of Formulation Engineering, including: leading food, personal care, pharma and fine chemicals companies, as well as experts in new medicines and therapies. Pioneering the concepts of Formulation Engineering in the UK, the CDT won for the University a Queen's Anniversary Prize 'for excellence in Formulation Engineering' in 2011.

Molecules to Product

https://moleculestoproduct.leeds.ac.uk/

The Centre for Doctoral Training in Molecules to Product will train tomorrow’s research leaders with the skills and know-how in designing, characterising and developing the next generation of chemical and material-based products that deliver superior performance and properties.
The vision is to underpin a ‘design and supply’ paradigm instead of the current road map of inventing, developing then manufacturing. This approach will assist industry to mitigate against wasted development time and costs and to focus on products and processes where the risk of failure is reduced. The research project structures reflect this challenge and range from original research delivered entirely within an academic environment through to fundamental research in partnership with industry.
