MEng Chemical & Pharmaceutical Engineering. Leeds

Biography

Jakub graduated from University of Leeds with an MEng in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering. The BEng group project was on chemical plant design for Flurbiprofen production. The individual MEng project involved salt crystallisation in batch reactor where he encountered challenges associated with maintaining uniform conditions throughout the reactor. Aside from university work, Jakub did a placement at SARomics Biostructures, where he worked in a protein crystallisation lab.
His current fields of interest include data science, cheminformatics and how these can be applied to drug design and crystal engineering.

PhD: Towards a digital definition of solid form and particle properties

The current focuses are on data-driven approaches to understanding solid state properties. The two key techniques used are Matched Molecular Pairs approach and Graph Neural Networks. Solid state properties such as melting point, lattice energy, and propensity for polymorph formation are studied with the aim of developing data-driven models for property prediction.
