For the duration of Dewi’s undergraduate course he was awarded the Process Engineering Scholarship, which was awarded to the top 5 applicants in the first year and was also awarded a prize for the best group project in his final year. He was also fortunate to be chosen to attend a summer school at Xiamen University, which was also open to 5 people in the final year of his course.
PhD: Inhibition of asphaltene deposition in heat exchangers
Sponsor: Infineum
Primary Leeds supervisor: Dr David Harbottle, Chemical & Process Engineering
The project focuses on the development of the understanding of and inhibition of asphaltene deposition in the oil and gas industry, specifically in heat exchangers. Using a more targeted approach to the fraction, a more thorough investigation of the adsorption process can be carried out and inhibition methods tested.
