Student Profile

Mohammed Jeraal

Cohort#1 CP3 CDT Student

Mohammed obtained a first class degree in chemistry from the University of Leeds in 2014. The master’s element of the project was centred on the automated process optimisation of a typical organic reaction in continuous flow. During this project, he acquired a working knowledge of HPLC method development and gained an insight into the process development of flow reactors at a laboratory scale. A subsequent summer project, in collaboration with a leading fine chemical manufacturer, focused on the design of a bespoke flow system for the continuous manufacture of a bio-renewable material. As part of a 12 month industrial placement at TATA Steel, Mohammed also worked as an environment chemist where he was responsible for the trace organic analysis of dioxins via HR GC-MS to ISO17025 specification.
