Ben has joined the University of Leeds as the CP3 CDT’s centre technician. Ben has extensive experience of working in research and higher education, previously undertaking technical roles at the University of Warwick, and before that completed Post-Doc roles at the University of Exeter, Warwick, and the Open University. Ben holds a PhD and BSc in Chemistry from the University of St. Andrews, and is a member of the Royal Society for Chemistry.
Ben has extensive experience in analytical techniques including particle size distribution and surface area of powders, thermal analysis, surface characterisation by Raman microscopy, ellipsometry and contact angle measurement.
Ben’s role is split between supporting the work of the CDT in our labs as part of the centre management office, and laboratory work in the wider school. Ben is responsible for support and coordination of facilities, laboratory access, safety inductions, and supporting the purchase of equipment and lab consumables in the CDT, and providing support and training on equipment for the CDT’s students as they complete both their MSc projects, and develop their PhD research.
